Celeste, the star angel, was the 1997 holiday edition, with gold wings and gold five-pointed star. This same star was adopted as the 1998 hallmark and production stamp. With this piece David was influenced by the work of art nouveau artist Alphonse Mucha. "39" denotes that this was David's thirty-ninth piece that he carved. Hallmarks include ©, diamond, HBC logo, ed.#, DL, and 1997 in Roman numerals carved into the lid.
